The "Manager"

The Scene: A downtown restaurant we'll just call Hoey Tornado's. A waitress shows up to her shift to discover a co-worker RALF has mistakenly taken her section. He wasn't scheduled to work and should have been sent home. Here's what happened instead.

The success of Gillian's Just Right has been incredible. We were the underdogs in a city with a struggling film scene, promoting a project that didn't exist (yet). And we still attracted  overwhelming support from our hometown and collected absolutely amazing fans. We don't take for granted that the majority of big budget studio films will never receive the active love and support that was showered on us.

The Break-Up: Wisdom from the Indie Mom

Hey Folks, I was going to blog about the CineCoup Top 10 Results, but the mother of all indie beat me to it. I don't think any of us could say it better. So here she is, in her own words, Momma Jane...

So the news last night that GJR didn’t make the CineCoup Top 10 was a buzz kill. I’m still a gal that loves an adrenalin rush so it really sucked. I found myself employing my 90’s style break up strategies to get through the night – here they are for your future reference:

GJR CineCoup Top 15

I'm so very excited to announce that we've made the CineCoup Top 15! Many of you have already heard the great news - perhaps were lucky enough to see the announcement in the Cineplex Odeon Theatre. As you can see, we were really excited!

The GJR team: Lesley Claire, Travis Barton, Greg Arenburg, Me, Colleen Nuc, Barret Hall. Missing: David Baron

J. Joly, CEO and creator of CineCoup, joined us in Edmonton for the Top 15 reveal. "Edmonton really punched above it's weight," he said. "We were blown away by the Alberta talent." Joly had the pleasure of sitting next to Momma Jane, who reportedly damaged his eardrum when "Gillian's Just Right," came on the big screen. She also thought he was trying to steal her purse.

Congrats to our fellow competitors from The Uprising who also made the Top 15, and Autoscript and The Last Video Store, two of my favourites who made the Top 40.
